Default how do I make xp read a samba file system

I put a 500 gig sata drive in a nas hhd enclosure. I back my all of my program data up to it. but the thing only move at 100mbps as it had a simple nic card. so I took the enclosure back and for 60 more dollars I bought a 500gig gigabit nas external drive from buffalo.

somehow the folder sync tool that came with it deleted almost 200 gig of my download program setup files from my main computer (it sync backwards). I used to have 3 backups to everything that I own on my hdd. but I haven't been doing that in the past year or so.

I do have some of the stuff on my 500gig sata drive that's not in anything now. but it's in that samba linux format. I want to slave it to a computer and copy the file over a network or something.

any ideas? maybe a lunux boot cd

Here's what I use:
Ext2 IFS For Windows

Linux LiveCD would work as well; but that gives you access to Ext2/Ext3 within windows.

No problem, glad to help (only fair to repay for all the help you've given me, eh? ).

You already have your answer, but samba is not the file format. Samba is software made for networking Linux computers with Windows computers.

You're probably using the Ext3 file format, which the above answers will help you with.
