Default How can I get 4 failed updates to install in Vista Ultimate

Hi all!

I am having trouble with the computer I built for my dad. Specifically, here are the 4 exact updates that continue to fail to install repeatedly:

Security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2003 (KB958436)
Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB962870)
Security Update for Microsoft Office Word 2003 (KB956357)
Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB951535)

When I googled these failed updates, the only info I could find is that they will not install if the computer does not have SP3 for Office 2003 installed.

We are using Office 2003, it is legit, and it does have SP3 installed.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks,

Soar

running a 3rd party software firewall? I know I have to turn mine off to get office updates to install.

Hef,

No 3rd party software firewall. Using only what came stock with Windows Vista Ultimate.

Thanks Hef for your reply.

I am referring to SP3 for Office 2003. We are using Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit OS with SP1.

does this describe you situation at all.

Office updates are not successfully installed if you deploy updates by using Windows Server Update Services or the Microsoft Update Web site after the path of the local installation source changes

Download details: Update for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Junk Email Filter (KB962870)

Download details: Security Update for Microsoft Office 2003 (KB951535)

Windows Update is not the end all solution. There is more than just Windows update available to update your system. The KB and Article number can be used to search Microsoft.com and you can download and install them manually.

It could be a issue with Windows update itself or it could be that you have a issue with the Office install. Since i know your system has been compromised before from viruses, and other such things both are very well a good option.

Just download them manually and try to install them. If they still dont work, you will need to do a repair of Office or possibly reinstall it.

Mak,

Thanks again. I did not realize there were other options. I will try it immediately. Have a good one!

Sometimes when you install drivers, patches and so on, windows update does not realize your programs are up to date and still offers those updates and when you try to install them instead of recognizing that you already have the specific updates installed it just fails on the update install. since you have SP3 installed this could be the case.

Hampton,

Thank you for your good advice. I had to go back home so I am no longer at my Dad's house. I will try fixing it next time I visit him.

Have a good one!
