Help Needed! Xp Pro Wont Start Somteimes

Sometimes when I boot my computer up, the machine goes through and finishes the POST, and the XP loading screen with the bar, and BLANK SCREEEN nothing happens. Usually I have to restart to get to the login screen and start up normally. it happens about once every 10 boots.

Does any one know what to do

Specs: Dual Athlon MP 2000+ 1.67 Ghz
512 DDR PC2100
WINXP PRO RETAIL SP1

I would first try running a repair from the XP cd, just boot to the cd, choose install, and then repair the partition its installed to.

Had a similar problem. Eventually loaded Rev1 form MS and all was well and no futher problems. Have no knowledge why this happened and MS can't offer this sort of help

I reformatted comp and reinstalled XP, works fine now, but thanx for the replies.
