Question

Hey guys I was wondering if someone could help me out.
I am looking to make it so my laptop can boot from my usb pen (8GB). My laptop can boot from USB, or at least im 90% sure it can what I need help with is making it so my pen can be used this way.
I have the XP recovery CD for the laptop (although getting different CD is no problem really)
How can I copy the CD on2 the pen making it bootable?
Thanks for any help

oyea the reason for this is my laptop, Toshiba Portege M200 has no CD/DVD drive and its not just as simple as getting an external one, i have 2 here but the m200 only works (when booting) with a few drives and i'd rather not buy another if i dont have to

Default Re: Help booting from USB

Hello,

A few more details required.

What XP recovery disc do you have? Is it a retail version of Windows XP or a Toshiba Recovery CD?

It is possible to install Windows XP from a USB drive. However, you need a complete Windows XP Setup Disc in order to do it. Here's a fairly straightforward guide you can use to install Windows XP onto any computer using a USB drive:
