Ok I just got my new hd and I wanted to clear my 55gb wdc and use it for backup space. I keep trying to format it by right clicking the drive and formating it which it says there are programs running and cannot format because of it, which isnt true, and when I go into dos it just says it cant do it. I never got a chance to install a floppy drive so I really cant try any programs. I also cant clean the windows, documents and settings, and program files folders off the drive for some reason. Any ideas?

Something just happened to my burner or its my media. Can someone give me something that doesnt need a floppy/cd and if I can just do the default reformat?

you can slave it on another machine. try partition magic too

prolly cuz your pagefile is on it.

go to start, run type diskmgmt.msc, press ok, find your drive, right click, format

so i take it that it works....... when I saw the fix mbr I was like ooooh shiet.....luckily nothing happened
