My internet freezes every time I hit enter, or click on something. I have a 56k modem, and am running on windows 98. I have tried downloading all of the updates for internet explorer, but no luck. It is really annoying having to wait 30 seconds every time you click on something. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

run a virus scan and check for spyware or adware that may be slowing things down. You can run a search for adware and spyware removal program on download.com

With any of these programs, make sure you read the help files and get to know the advanced options, so you can set the program to warn you, before it deletes any suspicious programs/files...this way you can check the files out for yourself before removal.

but before you do that you can certainly disable the startup items and increase the virtual memory
and also disable the non microsoft services
this is a very basic thing which everyone should do to increase the performance of the system .and voila may be your system works without any other trouble shooting steps
