I'm working on my buddy's PC (XP SP3) and it just freezes after the 'normal' time with the loading screen. The little bar stops moving and nthing happens. I can boot fine in safe mode.

Any ideas on why it hangs and how to fix it?

Have you tried a restore point? Have you tried to rool back drivers or any recent software installs?

Cant explain why it hangs cause we dont have any clue what happened before this occurred. Have no clue what they have done with the system, what software they have installed, what tweaks they have done.

I'm gonna try a restore.

Basically, he got it to me all messed up. I re-did all the hardware, wires were out of place and such. I formatted and installed XP. After that I put on CCleaner, Nod32, and firefox, and installed drivers. When I boot in safe mode, the mouse and keyboard work (Brand new logitech, divers installed). When I use "last known configuration that worked" they don't.

Edit: That didn't work so well. Now NO mouse will work. I'm just gonna take it home, do a total re-install, and make this thing work.
