| fix IRQ conflict between onboard USB host controller and AGP video card? as the title says, after reinstalling Windows, I get an IRQ conflict between the onboard USB host controller and the AGP video card... is there a way to force one or the other to change IRQs, or otherwise resolve this conflict? it is causing the CPU to lag at 90-99% hardware interrupts. Most fixes seem to call for moving a PCI device to another slot... however considering it's an onboard device and an AGP device, there is no way to physically rearrange the hardware interface.

| Re: fix IRQ conflict between onboard USB host controller and AGP video card? If you go into device manager, then click on the thing in question and click properties, then resources. There you can manually set IRQ's.

| Re: fix IRQ conflict between onboard USB host controller and AGP video card? I already tried changing the BIOS settings for IRQ priority of the PCI slots, but it had no effect. The manual override for device resources is also greyed out--a fine example of Windows taking charge of things so the user can't mess it up, then messing it up, without a user override.

| Re: fix IRQ conflict between onboard USB host controller and AGP video card? Reinstall one of the devices. Probably your USB controller would be the easiest. During installation windows should realize there is a device already using an IRQ and assign another IRQ. |

| Re: fix IRQ conflict between onboard USB host controller and AGP video card? I already tried reinstalling the USB drivers, but Windows won't let me, since it thinks the current drivers are the best available ones. Uninstalling the current drivers just makes it automatically reinstall on startup, to the same effect.

| Re: fix IRQ conflict between onboard USB host controller and AGP video card? SP3, only official drivers available for the USB, not sure on the card, and not sure on the BIOS. Mobo is an Intel.... I'd have to double-check on the model number, post it later.

| Re: fix IRQ conflict between onboard USB host controller and AGP video card? I am having the EXACT same problem. Installed an ATI video card in the AGP slot and now I'm having an IRQ conflict with a USB host controller, which in turn is stopping a NIC from working. There must be a solution. I tried uninstalling the USB, but on restart, it reinstalls automatically. I tried to the reinstall the video card, but it goes to the same IRQ again. What can I do?!?!?!?!?!? |
