when you have an icon on your desktop, then you right click it-properties-general-hidden, and it will be gone from your desktop. If that is the only place it is located, where will it have gone, and how do you unhide it?

Open any folder, go to tools>folder options>view and check "show hidden files and folders," then click apply. That will show any hidden files.
