Is it possible to find out whether a file was opened during a certain period?

I don't mean accessed or saved or modified, just opened. The files are Word and image files.

Using the Windows search tool you can search on the date Accessed and this kind of works but if a file has been opened since the date period it won't show be returned in the search.

The only thing i know of would be the Recent Items or Recently Opened Documents. But even that doesnt give a time.

I'm starting to think it might not be possible.

Maybe there is an application I could instal but even then, would it be able to look back in time to get a list of all the dates a file was opened?

The only thing you could do would be a system monitoring applicaiton. Something that take real time screenshots witha time stamp. I have heard of businesses using them. But i have not seen them for any kind of personal use.
