Default External Hardrive Prevents Boot of Windows

Situation:
- Windows XP Pro SP3
- External Harddrive Connected
- Restart Computer
- Computer gets stuck and doesn't boot

- Same situation with External hard drive unplugged
- REsults in successful boot of windows

How do I successfully make Windows XP boot without having to unplug my external harddrive?

Change the boot order in BIOS with your external drive plugged in. Set it so your primary drive is set to boot first.

some computers just do that. setting the bios to exclude it only works when it locks that drive in to a certain letter
