Default Explorer folder in VISTA!!

Hi

I am trying to find the same type of folder that I had in XP , the windows explorer , where it would show me all the files and folders in C drive as well as the same when I put a cd in , I can not find anything where it will show all the files and folders in a directory like XP does .

Just do a search for 'explorer', Vista should find it instantly. Then you can put a shortcut to it on the desktop or wherever if you want.

Edit: In Windows 7 it's in the start menu, under Accessories. I would imagine Vista is has it in a similar location.

Hi

Yes something like that , the first post suggested doing a search for explorer , but it only brings up Explorer as in internet explorer .

Are you just looking to put the Computer shortcut on the desktop? Right click on the desktop, select personalize. There on the left you should see the option to change desktop shortcuts. Select that. Check the box for Computer (previously known as My Computer in XP). Click Apply, then okay and get back to the desktop.

The actual file for the internet explorer is in Start>Computer>C:/ drive> Program File (x86)>then Internet Explorer. The start search is a good tool and you can find nearly anything using that on Vista, as long as you don't run some kind of registry tool that removes or breaks the search links. As you open it, you will see the folder options and links on the left hand side much like the images posted above.

To make your C:/ Folder show like this it is located in View at the top of the page, where you can set menu options. Click Orginize then down on layout, select details pane and navigation pane, and you will get the folder tree on the left, like in Xp.

Good luck!
