after my comp has been on for awhile(about an hour)explorer.exe cpu usage goes up to 99% and stays there til i restart the comp. any ideas why this is happening? it just started this yesterday. thanks

That's weird... what is your OS? What AV program are you running? And how much RAM do you have installed in your system?

Run Adaware and or Spybot, Sounds like somethings running in the background hogging your resources. Run a Virus Scan also.

i did run spybot and adaware....nothing. did a virus scan and nothing as well. i have 640mb of ddr pc2700 ram. i think maybe it had to do with an .avi i had that i couldnt delete. lil bit after i would try to delete it, i think thats when explorer would act up. i had to open up nero and delete it thru there and since its been gone i havent had this problem. well see how things go.....
