Default excellent problem

OK, where do I begin. Yes I need your help. I have a computer running XP. I installed a new DVD RW and all worked well for a week. Then all went blue, restarting all the time, then nothing, tried to reset up using boot CD for XP, it goes most of way thru, approx 20 minutes to end I either get a message
bios not fully ACPI compliant ....
or
STOP: 0x0000008e
If the DVDRW was working fine for 1 week, could it be this or something else?? if it is the driver, why would it work fine for 1 week then nothing
thanks

Default

something else, have u tried installing/uninstalling someother thing mean while?

or tweaked the BIOS? Updated?

once again, reset the BIOS to default settings, and then again set accordingly. re-install windows. lets see if it happens again.

though it isnt due to any optical drive problem.
