I have to create a spreadsheet with the first column (A) containing a set of numbers - in this case 140478 down to 140800.

What is the formula? Thanks.

The first step is to type 140478 in sell a1. then click on cell a2. Now at the top where you see the fx type a1+1. then hit enter and the number 140479 will appear.put the cursor at the bottom right corner of cell a2 until you see a little plus sign. click and drag down until you reach thenumber you want
