Hi, I'm new here. But I'm desperately searching for a solution to this problem.
One day I hit a random Stop Error, it was a IRQ-type of stop error. It was simple to fix, all I had to do was get my XP disc and reinstall XP. I had XP Professional. Well, what I didn't know, was that the XP disc was worn out to the point where it cannot go beyond 6% or sometimes 8%. Then it'd just hang there and stop copying files.
That same stop error showed up as well during the installation. I've gone through many disc cleaners, but all didn't get this disc to run. So it had to go.
Well, I'm on my back up PC and I put in the hard drive from the PC that had the stop error. I was in the process of transferring files until I came across a partition filled with encrypted files. I had 4 partitions, I cleaned out 3 of them, and this fourth one contained important documents of mine. They were all encrypted. I forgot that they were encrypted this whole time.
Well, The XP disc ruined the partition it was once installed on. So most likely, the certificate is gone. The only thing I have to lean on is the DRA and I have the certificate thumb print code from that too.
I've tried everything I've could to decrypt those files. From finding software to trying to trying to disable encryption completely. I feel that there is something else I haven't done yet that I could do that would help.
Is it possible to use this information and make another certificate and copy everything on it?
I'm just desperate because I cannot by any means lose my documents, they mean a lot to me.
I'd appreciate the help.
