Default DVD-RW not recognizing files

Hello everyone,

I am new to this forum, and have a bit of a problem. Sorry if this is not in the right spot, but I am assuming that it is a software and not a hardware problem. I have a set of windows media files that I copied to DVD-RW a few months ago. At that time they worked, and would play on my computer. Now, I went to use them again, and my computer doesn't recognize any of the files. When I go and look under "my computer" --> "DVD-RW", the screen that pops up is empty (it doesn't show any files).

I know the DVDs are good, because they play on my girlfriends computer. In addition I can play audio CDs and video DVDs (movies that I purchased) on my computer, so I assume the drive is working. Any Ideas would be appreciated!

If it helps, I have a Compaq Presario V2000.

Default Re: DVD-RW not recognizing files

Just an update.

I missed something earlier and in fact my computer thinks I am inserting a blank CD.

A pop up window appeared and said "Blank CD - WHat do you want windows to do?" And then it geve me a list of options Add files, Burn a CD....
