when I try to play a dvd in either my Plextor dvd writer or Toshiba dvd player I get an error msg stating I do not have the right program to play the dvd. I can watch tv on my computer or play back captured film w/microsoft media player....so why won't it play the dvd disc?? What am I missing..... Tks in advance..... FW

update window media player or use power dvd. window media players and real player will use the 3rd party software to play dvds

the new WMP (and vers. 9) supposely doesn't need any 3rd party sofftware

I have installed Real Player 10 and Windows Media 10. The DVD will start to play on both for 60 seconds and then crashes stating it has developed a problem and would I like to send a msg to Microsoft?

The DVD does not start automatically, but gives me an option of downloading Interactual Player, which I have done. It too crashes after starting the movie stating a problem exists.
