Question Dual Boot XP+Vista Help.

Hi all.

I have a Inspiron e1705 Laptop and i ordered it with XP last year because supposedly AutoCAD was having issues with Vista. Anyways my college sells vista ultimate for 20$ so i bought one and installed it for kicks this summer to give it a whirl. I like it but for the sake of CAD running correctly when school comes around ill need XP.

My original 80g harddrive was too small so i just got a 200g Seagate. I was wondering if 200g is enough space to effectivley dual boot both XP and Vista.

My plan would be to use xp for CAD + Games (MMO's ect.) and Vista for normal day to day browsing online and Itunes/movies ect.

Would it be worth it to do this or would i just be effectivly wasting alot of Harddrive space? If it is worthwhile how do i go about doing this?

I don't actually understand your question...

If you know there are some programs that won't work correctly on Vista then it is sure worth it to dual boot...

Also, how do you go about setting up dual boot?

How to dual-boot Vista with XP (with XP installed first) - step-by-step guide with screenshots

A lot of people dual-boot XP and Vista, because some older programs won't work under Vista that they need (in your case, CAD software).

Hello,

My drive that i store my OS's on is only 120GB and i have 3 OS's on there. You can dual boot XP and Vista nicely on a 200GB drive.

Carnage already gave the link on how to dual boot.

I would dual boot. But you may find yourself leaning more toward XP once school comes back around.

Cheers,
Mak

Having enough space will depend on how much space you use but Vista with updates only takes around 15gb so its not a big deal. I dual boot but use Vista 95% of the time.
