Default Driver conflict

Well recently i was having some pretty big issues with my laptop, but i've managed to fixed most of the problems. Now i just have some hardware issues. Also, i cant stay in "normal" mode for long, i usually get a blue screen if i click too many things. (dont ask, cause i'm not sure either). Also the "blue screen" is explained below.

This is a sony vaio, microsoft xp.

Problems:

- Windows wont shut down, it just says "windows is shutting down" and never shuts down, so i have to hit the power off button. (I've waited like 10-15 minutes for it to shut down)

- i get a blue screen whenever i try and open my computer > properties. The blue screen says like "hardware malfunction, memory error" something along that line.

- there are no "network connections" in the network connections.

- and the most peculiar problem of all, i have 14 network adapter drivers in Device Manager

I was trying to take a screenshot of them, but safe mode wouldn't let me save it for some reason ~_~, so heres the list:

Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver - Packet Scheduler Miniport
Direct Parral
Intel(R) Wireless Wifi Link 4965AGN
Intel(R) Wireless Wifi Link 4965AGN - Packet Scheduler Miniport
Packet Scheduler Miniport #3
Packet Scheduler Miniport #4
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC - Packet Scheduler Miniport
WAN Miniport (IP)
WAN Miniport (IP) - Packet Scheduler Miniport
WAN Miniport (IP) - Packet Scheduler Miniport
WAN Miniport (L2TP)
WAN Miniport (PPPOE)
WAN Miniport (PPTP)

And normally i'm only supposed to have

Intel(R) Wireless Wifi Link 4965AGN
Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC
Plus the firewire port.

- Also i've tried uninstalling the drivers and i get this message: "Failed to uninstall the device. The device may be required to boot up the computer." All the other drivers in Device Manager i can uninstall except for the network adapter drivers.

So I jsut have a few questions, how did i get "wan miniport"? What is packet scheduler miniport? Why did these randomly appear. The only big change i did was replace the integrity of the "core" files of windows using the windows cd. After the replacement these extra network adapters just "appeared".

I'm quite sure this is a driver conflict, but i could be wrong

Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.

How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install

You will be better off doing this first then worrying about the drivers.

Well actually that was what i originally did. I did a system recovery by reinstalling all the core files... which was what led to the driver problems.

Anyways i took your advice and tried doing a re-reinstallation of the core files and now its even more screwed up. During the installation process, it doesn't get past installing devices at 34 minutes remaining, it just stays there. I've left it for roughly 30 minutes and it still doesn't budge. If i try to remove the disk, it just resumes the installation and asks me to re-insert the CD. If i don't, then it just loops into continuous restarts.

Any other ideas?

Sorry for the double post here, but i just had an idea.

Is it possible to uninstall network drivers with windows recovery console? I'm quite sure its the network drivers that are conflicting with the completion of the process.

There is no way you can uninstall the drivers at this point. You have to finish the install. It is in process and until you finish it, there is nothing more that can be done.

Another question, is it possible to run a certain "shutdown" command to reboot the computer in safe mode? I've managed to fix 1 problem... but now when I'm logging in it says "a problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the license for this computer." All the solutions I've found all say to boot into safe mode using F8. F8 doesn't seem to work for this computer so i was wondering wither there was a command to do so in the recovery console.

Start>Run>msconfig

Under the boot tab there should be a option to get Safe Boot. try that.

Well the thing is, i cant log into windows because I'm getting that message... So i need an alternative to getting into the safe mode. F8 doesn't work. All the solutions to fixing the registry all point to safe mode... Its really annoying.

Any suggestions?
