Default Double Clicking/Hyperlinks and Drop Down Boxes Stopped Working!!! Help!

I have no idea why this is going on. Tried going to control panel and changing the double click speed. That's not it. There must be something simple I'm missing. Please help. P.s. - It isn't the mouse itself, tried it on another computer.

these could be a couple of fixes:

-Try switching mouse ports. (PS2 to USB or vice versa)
-Try removing the mouse from the device manager and letting the system redetect the mouse.
-Reinstall the mouse with its CD if it has one.
-Try using single click in Explorer, see if that works.

If none of these work i would just try to run sfc.
This will check the windows files to make sure they are not corrupted.
To do this go to: Start/Run, type "sfc /scannow". chuck the XP cd in and let it go.

Thats all I can think of for now.

It might not be the mouse, there can be many reasons for something like this, viruses, corupted or buggy windows dlls, first and always restart, try a new mouse, scan for viruses, and run all avalible windows updates.
