Doing a Clean install of XP?

Quick question here,
I've heard somewhere that you SHOULD do a clean install of XP to get the performance of it and such. But with the kinky activation scheme, could it be done? Because NTFS doesn't like my PC too much at all.

But, If u dont wanna backup everything and dont wanna download everything using dial up, do a clean install in another partion of ure hard disk.

I have partitioned my hd when I formatted it, but I heard about Partion Majic, I "think" will make partions without making formatting your computer. I am not sure, better go look it up.

AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Barton running at 2.16 Ghz. GeForce MX 4000 (mainly takes the load off the main system) Creative Labs Audigy 24-bit sound. Some Case from tigerdirect 512 MB Ultra DDR RAM. 80GB Seagate HDD LiteOn CD-RW / DVD ROM drive. currently looking at a litescribe drive at staples, due to its ability to label the CD shortly after being burned.
