Unhappy In desperate need of help.

Alright, i will admit I know little about technology but I know enough to get me through life ^^; but it's time to ask the the experts.

We are having issues with Windows XP, have in the past and probably will in the future. Problem started with a virus and screwed things up as expected >.<. We wiped the computer and reinstalled Windows XP media center edition from the cd and things seemed normal.

We had problems with our internet connection, where usually you just plug and go, but didn't work. We contacted support and he walked another family member through it discovering the problem was missing devices.

There are 5 of them:
-Ethernet Controller
-PCI Controller
-SM Bus Controller
-Video Controller
-Video Controller (VGA Compatible)

I've never had anything like this before and don't know where to start. I've tried searching this stuff but some of the answers are confusing as heck.
Would be greatly appreciated for any kind od advice/help, can post more information if you, like just let me know.

Thanks.

Edit: Also is saying there is no sound device? I assume it's connected somehow?

Hello,

All you needed to do was go to Dell.com and login to your account. From there put in your Service Tag info and that will bring up your machine. From there click the Drivers & Downlaods to get to the page with the info you need.

Dell - Search - All Dell.com

Now find all the devices you are missing in the list on the left and then find the most recent downloads on the right and install them.

Cheers,
Mak

Thank you, very helpful information ^^

Only issue is we cannot access internet through that computer.
Is there any way around that?

Either copy the files onto a flash drive, or burn them onto a CD, and transfer them that way.

Alright, did what you said and it went awesome. For the most part.

Only one issue I am having. Still can't find a download for the PCI Controller.
Would be very helpful if someone could post a link to find it.
I really hate to be a bother. >.<

PS: Video and audio playback, is screwed up, Any suggestions?
