Thumbs down Dell Ripped Me Off!

Dell and other pc manufacturers advertise systems with 512 Mb of RAM and integrated video as vista capable when the RAM is actually less because of the integrated video.

my question is: are these pc's really capable of running vista?

sorry... yes... it will run vista if it says it will. Dell won't lie b/c they will get civil suited... Dell doesn't want that.

It will run Vista if it says it will, it just won't run it smoothly on integrated graphics and 512 MB RAM.

It will run Vista but not with the "Glass Effects" Vista only calls for 512 RAM. It runs just a slight sluggish but it still runs.

So yea the PC you bought will run Vista. but not with all the pretty effects.

Vista is a memory hog. The copy I have uses 500mb at idle without anything installed. I think it was Beta 2.

Legally, no.

Microsoft is releasing it through their "Customer Preview Program", and is available to tryout until it's fully released.
