I am running Windows XP Pro on an AMD 2G system with 256M Ram
I am having problems with Microsoft Word freezing, then the egg timer displays for 30 secs + then Word runs ok
I noticed on Task Manager that the Cpu is runnig at 100% though I only have Office, Norton Internet Security & XP on the PC
I have run Adaware & that runs clean, also Spybot which reports DSO Exploit though further investigation says ignore that
Is Cpu Usage 100% common or something to bother about ?

Control+Alt+Delete.

Click "Processes" tab and see whats eating your CPU up. Right click and close the little fecker thats doing it and see if that improves anything.

(Dont close System Idle Processes or similar near very bottom though. Thats always got very high CPU usage)

You say you have 256Mb RAM. Thats not the best, but it should be plenty just to operate word with the Norton program running.
