Default cpu problems

Iv been experienceing problems with cpu surges, at first i thought it was some kind of problem with my network, but now i used a deifernet network card that seemed to half resolve the problem.

it appears now that, whenever i am writeing to a hdd the problem occurs,

whenever i install a game or copy a file , not only will it take forever but, my cpu will be at 100% and if i open up task manager, i see what is happening, and that various programs are getting random surges large amounts of cpu usage rather then the installer.

programs like msn, lcdc, firefox, wmp, everything, just randomly will be like 33% an crap like that, if i close everything, then task manager and explor.exe start taking up the cpu usage. its so f****d.

but then i can go and play a game, and have no problems at all.
iv run registry mechanic, bug doctor, spyware programs, and scanned with symantec corporate, everything is normal,

has anyone had a problem like this b4 or heard of it, it is completely beyond me why its happening, the cpu isnt overclocked or anything either.

please help, it is the most frustating thing, i want to format but its gonna take me a few hours just to get a couple of gb of crap i need of the partition where windows is.

Perhaps it's just an older CPU some apps are very intensive. My new PC is currently out of order and on my previous PC I always reach 100% CPU usage when playing games or archiving with winRAR. It's a Pentium 4 2.40 Ghz with no hyperthread. Perhaps something is wrong but when I first relised that my CPU on my previous PC may be outdatted / insufficiant I was fairly suprised could it be possible?

might be a dma issue , see this guide
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616
and if your using the nvidia ide driver rollback to the microsoft driver , also check dma settings in bios it mainly depends on that also some bioses have dma settings for sata..

and could still be caused by spyware , scan with ewido
http://download.ewido.net/ewido-setup.exe
http://download.ewido.net/ewido-signatures-20060331.exe
also get hijackthis http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html click "do a system scan and save a logfile" open a new thread at this section http://www.tech-forums.net/forumdisp...forumid=126&s= and copy & paste the log
