Anyone know of a free program that can convert avi files to wmv? Thanks.

you can search on Google. type .avi to .wmv or converting .avi to .wmv and it should come out with solution

I was hoping someone had a program. When I search, I just get a bunch of trial programs that leave watermarks on the video.

you can use use windows movie maker just click file import the video drag all the icons to the bottom then go to file and save movie file and click next next and save and it will convert

windows movie maker wont reconize the .avi formatt .. at least thats what i know !! r u sure about this keyser09 ??

Good call Keyser, I didnt think of that.
It seems the program the other user posted is a trial. If it's not, I'd like it if you could help me out. I can only seem to get about 25mb of a 700mb video converted. Windows movie maker is alright, but it takes about 80min to convert a 700mb video.

JinkX: It depends on what codecs you have installed.
Packersfan: Check out videohelp.com
They have a great "How-To" section with all the help you need.
I haven't ever tried (nor needed) to convert to .wmv, but looks like the only one that'll encode to wmv is Windows Media Encoder.
