Default Controlling Firewall Startup

I have Comodo Firewall, which I've configured to start on bootup. This sometimes takes long time (assumption - Comodo is the reason, as there are no other non-windows startup items).

Is there a way to autostart the Firewall only upon connecting to the net. I use an ISP interface to logon to the net. Similarly, can the firewall be shut as soon as I logoff the net.

Thanks.

Start>Run>Msconfig

Under the startup tab. Remove Comodo. This will stop it from starting with the PC. Then just make sure you start it up when you go to the net. Then jsut stop it when you are done.

You'd be surprised what starts up that you may not know about. Defragmenting often will help with boot times. I don't believe Comodo is your problem.

Thanks guys, but
a. was looking for less manual intervention than suggested
b. had already run defrag earlier, just to be sure. doesn't help

pls do let me know if something else comes to mind. don't know if something can be done to autoexec to do such things.

This is the most manual way. You will have to disable it from startup. If not it will auto start and you will have to shut it down every time you boot. You could possibly make some batch files to run it and turn it off when you are done. But overall this is going to be the best way to do what you want to do.
