Computer Crashes when trying to update my ipod! Please Help!

I recently got a new ipod, since my old one was stolen. I am trying to update it with all of my 12000 songs on my iTunes library. The issue is that when I try to update it, it works fine for a while, but eventually my computer crashes. I get an error involving the Nvata.sys file.

I checked and both my graphics card and bios are updated. I'm not sure what else could cause the problem.

Here are my system specs-

ABIT KN8 SLI Socket 939 Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 4400+ Socket 939
eVGA GeForce 6800 GS 256MB PCIe w/DVI/TV-OUT (x2 (SLi Mode)
Ultra 2048MB DDR PC3200 400MHz (2 x 1024MB)

I'm not sure whatelse to include on this.

I play Battlefield 2142 just fine, aswell as many other computer intense games. So I'm kind of at a loss on what the problem could be

ok what you can do is the following

1- Start - right click on my computer and then select Properties

2- go to advanced tab and then click on Startup and Recovery Settings

3- uncheck the option Automatically Restart under System failure

try to update your ipod and if the computer crash

you may see something like IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL

if so post here so we can try to troubleshoot it

if not copy the exact error message so we can look further in this

I believe it said DRIVER IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL

Probably caused by : nvata.sys ( nvata+134c6 )

mostly is should get resolved by doing BIOS update for the Motherboard , you said (you have done that )

am not sure if you can download the update (IPOD update) and then disconnect from the Internet and then try to connect your IPod and install the update

(i really do not support Ipods) but ,my concern is to stop running possess while you do this operation

Well, I dont think its the ipod, I think its a driver within the ocmputer.

I was told that abit and AMD X2 processors have trouble with high activity usb processes. I went out and bought two different new PCI USB Cards, and tried again, and neither of them worked. I'm kinda lost on what to do next. Does anyone have some help?
