Default Completely Remove Windows Messenger

Tryed to do this and it dosen't work..
First I edited this line in the sysoc.inf file:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7

To:

msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

And saved/restarted and there is no entry in add/remove programs
to remove it...

I can't even get it to stop running at startup, I removed the check in the msconfig startup and it just made another entry so i opened up windows messenger and told it not to start but it still does it just dosen't add another entry in msconfi startup...

any ideas ?

XP home.

Try msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,show,7 not many applications allow for blanks in the coding so that could be where you went wrong.

Is this a fresh install of XP Home or an older install that you want to remove it from. Also try Start>Run>MSCONFIG and then the Startup tab and see if you can remove the Messenger from there.
