Default compatibility mode windows 2000 gone...

I know that windows 2000 has a compatibility mode but it's not there anymore. I know making a shortcut of an .exe helps but it didn't work.
I need it for an old app that needs to run in 256 colors and i don't want to change display settings everytime i start the program

Only now it only shows the compatibility mode and not setting back display setting to 256 colors.
Or i'm i confusing it now XP, Does windows 2000 have it?
