cant update sp2

trying to update to sp2 windows xpp
half way through the update it says access denied and stops.
anyone know whats the probelm and how to solve it?

Call Microsoft. Make sure you have your license handy.

Sounds like your OS is already installed on another system.

You have Administrator Permissions on your profile right?

yup its admin account, turned off all antivirus and still doenst work i think it might be a reg key prob i read on the microsoft support, but not sure how to change it

do you have the OS installed on another computer? i had that problem and i found out that i had the OS installed on two computers. i downloaded the sp2 to my desktop, extracted the files, burned it to a cd, and then updated through the cd.

Use Autopatcher. Google it. Installs everything from SP2 up to the current updates.
