I am unable to get any windows updates I am running XP home
Every time I try to get the update window open i receive a google page even from the Microsoft home page or this page cannot be displayed
I have had windows fully re installed and all the drivers with a Dell technicians help.
I have had my modem updated and contacted Microsoft free help section and tried everything they said
Anyone else got any ideas as to why I am being blocked from getting them

what service pack is currently installed on your version of xp?

I assume you can access other sites on the internet.


Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP installation or you repair a Windows XP installation

I belive its sp2
It was happening before i asked Dell to help, and they sent me all the discs required to do a full re install
I can access the net

Try installing the latest version of Windows update agent.

It wont let me it come up with a google home page, i have tried every Microsoft link I can find

did you do a complete reinstall or a repair install?

Have you scanned for viruses or spyware?

any chance you got hit with the conflicker worm?

We did a full system re install then added AVG then checked with high jack this, do dont know about the worm

Would you like to take control of my PC and have a look I am not very good with one
just send me the instructions for doing it

I cannot but Trotter our admin can. He should be on in a couple of hours.
