Default Cannot Connect To Secure Sites - Please Help?!?

Hi, I really hope someone can help me as I am completely at a loss at what to do.

I have an old laptop that worked fine until last week when I think I must have got a virus as it started in ms-dos and could not run or find windows. I reinstalled Windows 95 and when reconnecting to internet, everything has changed, even the little box you get up when dialling Wanadoo.

This has caused 2 major problems -

1. Everytime I look at a new page I get a "script error" box come up. Normally I would disable it by going to Tools at the menu bar - but my menu bar is completely different to how it was and Tools is missing (Now it just has File; Edit; View; Go; Favorites; Help)

2. I cannot connect to any secure site whatsoever. I have disabled all security settings and have installed Winsock 2.0 but neither has made a difference.

Please, please can anyone help me with this? I need to be able to use my email account and am a seller on ebay - yet neither site I can use due to not being able to sign in.

Any advice would be very much appreciated.
