Im using build 3718 (evaluation version) of windows 2003 server and im trying to install the updates.

Unfortunatly it wants me to have a build version of 3790.

Does anyone have any idea how to change it. Be it permanately or temporary.

Id rather not upgrade if i dont have to.

Ive looked in the registry and there is build and build version but they just go back to 3718 when i change them.

Ive tried editing the update.inf files in the updates (like i used to do in windows xp but its not letting me install says "Cryptographic Service couldnt not verify this update"

Also tried disabling that service (trust me it dont like it!!)

Any Ideas?

Hi,

The final version is build 3790 - some of the earlier builds were released to testers as betas and, like yours, there were "evaluation" versons ...

It makes sense that the updates would only work on the final version since updates to the betas were actually other betas and RCs.


Sorry I don't know any more than that to tell you. :/ You may have to update to the final version after all - which will mean purchasing a full license I believe.
