Question BSOD problem

OK. heres the thing..
I put together my desktop and i've been having the BSOD problem. it usually says something different everytime it happens.
it only happens every once in a while but when it does happen i'd have to try a bunch of times to restart to actually get the computer to start working again. sometimes it'll go into windows then bsod..other times it'll bsod just before it goes into windows right after the loading screen.

Im running Windows XP Pro SP2.
heres some hardware info i have in the comp..

Motherboard: PC Partner RX480AK9-A58X PCI-e
-Chipset; ATi Radeon Express 200p
-onboard; LAN, audio AC97
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4400+ 2.2Ghz Socket 939
Video: HIS ATi Radeon X1650xt PCI-e 256mb
RAM: 2gb in dual channel mode
HD: Boot drive; Maxtor IDE 80GB
-Additional drives; Maxtor IDE 120GB & WD SATA 500GB

i ran hard drive tests and RAM tests..everything came out clean.
i personally think it may be the video card or motherboard.
but then again..when running WinXP in Safe Mode with Networking..it works fine. which makes me think its a driver/software issue.

What do u guys think?

a couple things you can try.

1. start , run , sfc /scannow
that will run the system file checker and ask for your cd.

2. download service pack 2 and reinstall it

those are two ways to see if maybe it is just corrupt system files.

also have you installed a new driver recently?
what was the last thing you did before you started seeing that bsod?

you can also try a repair install of xp as well

Assuming you're running IDE drives rather than SATA I'd suggest checking your IDE cables as i've encountered a couple of BSOD warnings through bare leads.

Just something you could check.

the error codes always differ. anything from 0x0000008E to 0x0000000A.
and sometimes it says nuthing.

i have a feeling it may be the motherboard..but still not sure.
it usually happens when loading windows or after it has loaded windows.
safe mode has no problems.

i disabled the onboard sound..that did nuthing.

i just tried loading windows normally..went straight to 0x000000D1.
after a couple times..eventually got into windows..tried sfc /scannow..got BSOD with error code 0x0000008E win32k.sys.

ive reinstalled windows a number of times..and i still get BSOD.
which gets me thinking its a hardware problem..but even if it was a hardware problem..then wouldnt safe mode be messed up too?

im totally lost here cause it makes me go back and forth.

take a picture or write it down exactly as you see it. we can't help if we don't know exactly what it says. those number you put up can have a thousand references after them
