Default Boot Loader

I donn know i have installed win Xp from dos mode, may be there are some files left for win 98.. cause it shows a Operating system selection otion at start op...

it say win xp or previous OS on c:

please lemme know how can i eliminate the second oftion, i tried goin to advanced and then start up and recovery settings, editted bootloader in notepad saved it, but then again it appears when i reboot it..
please help me..

go to start, run and type "notepad C:\boot.ini"

change it to this:

[boot loader]
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Micro soft Windows XP Home Edition/Proffessional" /fastdetect
