Default blue screen of death

heya,

My laptop is running Windows xp pro spk2 I have had this laptop for 3-4 years its an acer travelmate 920 and it has worked excellently from the abuse that I have put it through even as far as only having 1mb of free hdd space and dual boot systems running it as a download server running it as a webserver, anything that I threw at it worked fine although sometimes a little slow.

The problem is that recently over the last 4 months It has suddenly cut out with a blue screen for no warning it does this completely randomly sometimes I leave it on for a whole week constantly ripping dvd's and playing games without this happening and some days I turn it on it cuts out b4 i reach the login screen then i restart it and it works fine again.

I had no idea what to write down so I wrote everything which wasnt windows standard the error code is:

Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_OR_Equal

Technical information:

stop: 0x00000001(0x86800000, 0x00000002, 0x00000000,0xBAC45A98)

w22n51.sys

Any help will be much appreciated

This is a driver issue. Although not sure which one, most of the time, it's video. Update your drivers or reinstall video, LAN, wireless until you find it.

Sounds like a networking card driver. Possibly Intel 2200 card? Couldn't find any specs of the computer.

1mb of free hdd space and dual boot systems?

Umm, I think you need to free up some space. How in the world is your VM running?

its a travelmate 290 soz that might be why you couldnt find any specs

No that was around a year ago lol now theres 6gb free space and just windows xp pro. thats just what ive done to it in the past i even played counter-strike on it when it had 1mb free space had to shutdown explorer.exe before i could though as the lag was bit annoying . I'm sure I must of got a unusually good one as some of my freinds have exactly the same model and yet theyre computers seem sh*t compared to mine when they overload theres with junk.

This might seem a bit out of the blue but i found this page through google and it reflects my problem exactly. I was wondering if any solution to the bluescreens was found or if anyone else has any idea?

That file w55n51.sys is a intel wireless driver, go to the intel site and see if there is a driver update, I've browsed a few other forums and others had your problem and fixed it with driver update.

Clicking on the link below will take you to the intel site and give you two choices of wireless devices that use that file, make sure you know which one you have.

Download Software, Drivers and Utilities Search Results

i have done a driver update, allbeit with a driver from Acer, not intel. I'll look for the intel one and hope. not gonna hold my breath though, previous drivers not working put a dampener on things.
