my autoplay has not been working for a few days now i find it quite usefull. I have reset all autoplay options to default use autoplay is ticked still did not work. I put settings back to use windows media player clasic wjen i insert a dvd and so on still no joy i have seached this and cant find any solutions that work with google and yahoo.

Try Micosoft's fix:
Download details: Autoplay Repair Wizard
Try AutoPlayConfig (I like this one)
AutoPlayConfig - Enable / Disable Autoplay on any Windows machine

Also, do this:
Start > Run > Services.msc
Maximize the services Window
Scroll down to: Removable Storage
Double click on it
Change the Startup type to Automatic
Start it
Close Services Window

Test Autoplay again ! (you may need to restart - not sure)

first one i have tried before ie stops working. The second one i tried said all drives are enabled but still does not work i give up searched high and low for a soloution thanks guys

Start > in the Search box> gpedit.msc
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Autoplay Policies > Turn off Autoplay.

To Enable: Change the value of Turn off Autoplay to Disabled
Restart to and then re-test

Oh, also check this service is in Automatic and started:
Start > Run > Services.msc > ok > Shell Hardware Detection


This may also be a program conflict
Many programs such as disc imaging programs disable the autorun feature, or have it default to their program only (ie Nero, PowerISO, MagicISO)
If you have such programs installed, then you may need to go through the programs settings, or possibly even uninstall them
