Default Alright, I am building a new computer... which OS?

I was hoping people who are more knowledgeable than myself could recommend which OS to run on my new build.

I already have Windows XP 64bit but I am thinking Vista is a better choice. The problem I am having is that I have no idea which version of Vista to purchase.

Is Ultimate necessary, or should I save 80$ on Premium?

Thank you.

I personally think Premium would be fine, but I have never used Ultimate, so it's a one sided opinion. Premium should give you the features you're probably after.

Home Premium.

Ultimate isn't worth it for the few little things it offers over the others.

Thank you for the reply, after looking at the comparisons I think you are right and unless anyone disagrees I will purchase it for my system.

Mostly everybody here will agree that Home Premium will suffice.

Home Premium. Take it from someone who has Ultimate. It isnt worth it.

Big Thanks to Trotter for the HDD. Big Thanks to CarnageX for the Video Card. Big thanks to Saxon, without you none of this would be possible.

Agreed, i'm running Ultimate on my laptop. I would go Home Premium since you are having to pay for an OS.

I dual boot xp 32 and vista home premium 64. Ultimate just doesnt offer anything extra thats worth almost doubling the cost.

one of the only reasons to get ultimate is that you are not paying for it. there are a few other reasons but thats the best one i can come up with.

Thank you all for the replies, I will definitely be going Premium.

As for dual booting XP 32 and Vista 64, why? What do you use it for? And why not dual boot with XP 64?
