Default Administrative Account Problem...

Hey guys!

I'm having a problem with my administrative account here on Windows XP, which is running on SP1.

I am the computer administrator, and I've had my HP Pavillion PC for about three years and have never faced a problem using my administrative rights until now.

Now, I can't install anything on the computer through my administrative account. It says I need administrative rights to do so!

I tried restarting in safe mode and installing in the 'Administrators' account, and I encountered the same problem!

I'm trying to install SP2, and that problem is really bugging me! I need SP2 to install a new DVD-RW drive I put in my computer.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

Login with the Administrator account and create a new account with Administrative Privledges.

Quick Question : Are you automatically logged in with the actual "Administrator" account? Or did you create an Account with administrative privledges when setting up the OS for the first time?

Default

I created an account with administrative privileges.

I'm going to try your idea, hopefully it works.

Thanks!

More suggestions are welcome.
