hello all,

does anyone know of a quick and easy way to reset an administrator password, I have to deal with someone who isn't good with computers so getting them even in the BIOS is scary to them.

What boot cd should i use?

Download Hirens boot cd image, create a CD, boot from CD, launch Active Server password 3.0 and simply choose the account you want to reset the password...I always reccomend that you blank out the password rather than reseting. Then logon with the blank password and set the password through Windows itself.

ok that cd is legal right? as I cant give people illegal software i`ll get in trouble

but thanks looks promising now all I have to do is tell a computer illiterate person how to go into the BIOS setup to boot from cd lol ...

Its legal...free for download...we can start getting technical on legal aspects of that CD, but it is legal enough ;-)

Wheres the download link for the CD? I don't see it..

EDIT: that software is illegal as it has many programs that need to be paid for so it doesn't help me as I cant use it in my workplace.

Anyone got other suggestions, bare in mind i need something for a computer illiterate person.

Well I cant find any reset password for dummies, so I looked over wazez monsters guide and made a boot CD using:

I then found this guide online:

and I copied and pasted it and chopped and changed into some form of easy to follow guide for the computer illiterate. So hopefully it`ll do, if not i`ll just tell the person to take their PC to a shop for fixing.

If they didn't even manage to get into the BIOS then obviously my attempts are futile, I'm too nice for my own good trying to help someone ...
