Default About Download Managers/Accelerators

Is there one that really works? I'm trying to download Rohan Online (its a free game I'm not torrenting.. )

but my connection keeps DC'ing (I had downloaded 1gb of the 1.5... and I got so mad!!), but thats really not my issue, I think I've fixed it, but I need to know if these things really work and a good recommended one, I'm pretty sure its a gimmick, but if it lets me continue good :P

Firefox and Opera both have download managers built in. There are also a bunch of them at Download.com

Download Managers - Reviews and free downloads at Download.com

Accelerators are fiction. They do not accelerate yoru download. All they do is open multiple connections to the Server. In which case can actually get you bumped from the server as they might not allow multiple connections. Let alone the fact that you are sending out so many more requests to the server that you could in fact slow down your download.

Most common one. FlashGet.

Ok but the Firefox one doesn't let you continue from the place you stopped before even if you pause

If you close down the browser it wont. Only the stand alone ones and Opera do that.

Try FDM

Free Download Manager - absolutely free download accelerator and manager

Pretty sure Firefox 3 lets you continue. Version 2 didn't, though.
