Its pretty much that easy...insert you XP CD, boot off it..At the first screen press "R" for recovery console. Select your OS usually #1, enter your local administrator account password, now you are at the command prompt....you need to find out which drive letter the hard drive you want to format was assisgned..For sure dont format C:\ it will either be D:\ or E:\ depending how many drives/partitions are on your system.

Then you simply type format D:\ and it will ask if you are sure you want to format..select yes..should start the format and give you a % count.
