Default 64 bit OS issues

So heres my problem, I just built a new rig and installed 64 bit vista on it. The problem is when I go to my computers properties is says I have 32 bit vista installed but it still recognizes my 6 gb of ram so I dont know whats going on. any help?

P.S. does X86 architecture = 64 bit?

Hit the Windows key and the Pause key at the same time to bring up this window. Does it say 64-bit Operating System where I have it highlighted?

x86 is NOT 64 Bit. That is 32 Bit. x64 is 64 Bit.

Start>run>winver will tell you.

Difference Between 32 Bit (x86) and 64 Bit (x64)

It will say you have that much RAM. But unless you have used PAE in Vista you are not using 6GB of RAM. It can register that much but using it is a different story.

If you are using a disk that is labeled x86 then it will NEVER be able to use the 6GB. That is only a 32 Bit OS. You will need to get a disk labeled x64 for you to be able to use it all. No matter the amount of reinstalls you do it will never change.
