On my laptop on the startup screen where it has my name to sign on, it says 1 new mail message. What's this mail message? Is this refering to outlook express? How do I get rid of it? BTW - I'm runnin Win XP Pro. Thanks.

go to start-run-regedit. go through hkey_current_user-software-microsoft-windows-current_version-unread_folders. delete unread folders. exit out of regedit. restart

Followed your directions to a T and there is no unread folders there.

RegEdit, go to your HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\UnreadMail folder and add a new DWORD value (right click in folder and select New -> DWORD Value) called MessageExpiryDays and leave it set to 0.

No, I make a new value, called UnreadMail but it stays in the right screen and I can't open it up.

either outlook or you have a net passport (msn email)
