The card in your laptop is made by ATI. I will still keep googleing for you to see if there is a much simpler solution but I doubt there is. Here is the ATI page for makeing tweaks to YOUR card.

Oh an thanks for the feed back, I will let you know if its a problem with that series of laptops (I got a database in work i have access to for such things), I will keep googleing for you but that looks like the best soloution i have found so far.

not to jack your thread, but I've got a a215-s4697 and i can't change the video ram allocation, partially because everything is geared towards power saving (my cpu runs at around 800mhz 90% of the time). so is there something i can do to change it so its always at max? or am i just gonna have to deal with what i have. also i don't have like ccc or anything cause i had to force install the drivers cause i moved down to xp.

Runing vista? if you are turn off power saving it should boost your speed.

nah i downgraded. lol. didn't like vista at all, perfered xp pro a lot more.
