Well, my math teacher has some issues with an old Toshiba laptop (he couldn't recall the model number) The thing is, he recently formatted his hard disk and reinstalled win 2000 but now...it doesnt show 256 colors. Instead it shows 16 colors.

So im just wondering if the problem is with the vga driver (because he has lost the CD)
or is it because of direct x?

could someone please give me an idea of whats going on, driver or direct x?

It's probably the driver. See if he can find the device drivers on Toshiba's website.
