[More Boost]

Just as the title says. I have a Thinkpad R51 Pentium M 1.5GHZ etc. It has a Combo CD-R/CD-RW and DVD drive. Forwhatever reason, it will not read regular CD's nor recorded CD's it says they are blank. However it will play a DVD Flawlessly..I updated the Combo drives firmware and the Bios with in the laptop itself and still nothing, whats wierd is it wont even read a regular CD to boot off of... say like the CD I burnt(using another machine) with the firmware update, wouldnt boot off it. I can pick up a refurbished drive for like 40 bucks, but Im wondering if this one could be saved? Any Idea's?

It's one of the Ultrabay devices, right? If possible, see if it works on a different laptop.

Sounds like your CDRW/DVD Combo drive is on it's way out. It's one of the first signs that you see when the DVD will work fine, but CD do not work at all. (or vice versa)
