Default The cheapest laptop with a good graphics card.

Whats the best laptop for gaming for 500 bucks? I'm replacing a laptop ( Gateway 7525 ) which I paid like $1,400 at the time, and just like cars, its value cut in halve by 6 months. Battery life wont be a concern. I have a apple macbook for handling my important data, and ive tried xp on it with a x3100 and its playable at native resolutions Id say about an ati 9200 - 9600, not bad for a integrated solution, but still I want another laptop for gaming.

If you're buying new I don't see you doing any better for $500. $500 laptops are for web surfing and typing, not for gaming. Maybe you can get a Vostro for around $600 with a low end dedicated gpu but that's not going to be terribly better.

Jorsoft is right. For that amount of money there is no laptop out there that you can get for gaming. At least not many of the newer games.

I just got a $2000 hp dv9700t (incredibly awesome laptop). The dv9700t series has an 8600m GS 512MB chip and a Core 2 Duo CPU. The base price is around $900 or so (mine was highly upgraded, better CPU/RAM/screen/etc). It also has a 17" monitor and is good for gaming. I'd recommend looking for something with an 8600M or 8800M graphics chip (my 8600M GS runs HL2 games pretty well at 1680x1050, but Crysis demo only works well at 1024x768).
